Ulster Bank Community Ticket Scheme
Northern Ireland venues have over 1,000 new fans thanks to an unprecedented ticket giveaway courtesy of the Ulster Bank Belfast Festival at Queen’s and supported by Arts & Business NI.
The team from the Dundonald Family and Community Initiative summed up the delight of charities and community groups. “We applied for tickets to see Pinocchio in the Old Museum Arts Centre. The range of drama, dance and music on offer was superb but the puppetry and illusion of Pinocchio was perfect for our family audience and everyone had a wonderful time.”
"It was an exciting event. People wouldn't normally have been able to attend an event such as this. People went home uplifted, enthralled, happy." Ballynafeigh Community Development Association.
"Our women are mainly benefit dependent and would never have even looked at events such as this. The women who did attend...for some it was the first time in the Opera House. These events challenged them and offered them a different perspective. The feedback we got was great" WOMEN'S TEC
Cormac McCarthy, Chief Executive, Ulster Bank Group said bringing the arts to new audiences was an integral part of Ulster Bank's involvement in the Festival. "Through our involvement in the Ulster Bank Belfast Festival at Queen’s we were able to give new audiences a chance to experience the thrill of the theatre. Community groups and charities across Northern Ireland applied for tickets to see 8 different shows in the Festival programme, which were hand-picked by the Festival Director as must-sees. The scheme, which has proved to be a terrific success, reached out to those who might not normally have the chance to visit the theatre allowing them to experience some great productions and a fantastic night out."
Ulster Bank delivers "A Night for Belfast"
Before the curtain came down on the 47th Ulster Bank Belfast Festival at Queen’s there was one last big night to be enjoyed and it was particularly special for the 500 strong audience of Macbeth at Clarendon Dock. Thanks to Ulster Bank’s scheme, a “Night For Belfast”, the Polish theatre company’s last performance in Belfast was for an audience of lucky ticket winners.
Cormac McCarthy, Chief Executive, Ulster Bank Group said it was a great way to celebrate Ulster Bank’s second year of Festival sponsorship, “In addition to the one thousand tickets we made available for charities and community groups to see many of the Ulster Bank Festival at Queen’s shows, we created this special celebration to open the opportunity to individuals. We received an incredible amount of requests for tickets and everyone here has enjoyed a superb night of entertainment. Macbeth, Who Is That Bloodied Man was the perfect choice for the closing night celebration.”
